"This album sees Kalevi get his freak on."

More Jaakko Eino Kalevi More Jaakko Eino Kalevi

Exploring new ideas, Jaakko Eino Kalevi’s latest, a mini-album, finds the Finnish electro-pop producer getting a touch philosophical while embracing a lo-fi palette of electronic sound which feels more experimental than previous releases.

An atmospheric instrumental interlude opens the album and introduces the title track, which bounces deep into wonky disco vibes under the influence of EBM. Kalevi's vocals have the cool indifference and icy veneer of '80s electro-punk. I Am Looking Forward has the same joyously alienated and hyperactive vibe of John Maus. The synths of Uutiset shift and shimmer, wriggling across a dreamy meditative groove. At the centre of the album sits The Source Of The Absolute Knowledge, which sees Taiwanese guest vocalist Yu-Ching Huang and Kalevi mixing up '80s new wave attitude with electro, disco and punk for the benefit of spaced out dancefloors.

This album sees Kalevi get his freak on and The Search drops with the quirky fun of vintage Yellow Magic Orchestra. Dissolution adds another shiny facet to Kalevi’s already multifaceted career.
