Thom Yorke made his solo headline debut in Australia in October and November 2024 – his first appearances since Radiohead’s last tour Down Under in 2012 – and the moment was filmed and is heading to cinemas in March.

Yorke came to Australia for a surprise tour in late 2024, locking in four performances at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, two shows at each venue, respectively.

The resulting concert film, Thom Yorke Live At Sydney Opera House, celebrates the music of Thom Yorke, from his critically acclaimed solo work to the classic Radiohead songs. The dazzling concert film documents Yorke’s debut solo shows in Sydney, filmed under the stars on the world-famous Forecourt of the Sydney Opera House.

Filmed across two nights in November 2024, Yorke’s thirty-plus-year career is captured at one of the most awe-inspiring backdrops in the world.

The concert film features a stunning acoustic version of Let Down, plus deep cuts such as UNKLE’s Rabbit in Your Headlights, and new music performed alongside English electronic artist Mark Pritchard.

On Tuesday, 20 January, the film will have its world premiere at the Sydney Opera House, followed by a nationwide release on Friday, 6 March. More information, including the cinemas involved in the release, is available on the Sharmill Films website.

As a press release notes, Thom Yorke, Everything is the first in a planned series of cinema releases presented as part of the longstanding Live at Sydney Opera House program of concert films.

Reviewing Yorke’s first show at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl on the Everything Tour, The Music’s Christopher Lewis said: “And whilst the tour was called Everything, it could have easily been called Extremes as he took pleasure in juxtaposing the ends of his musical interests.

“A delicate, haunting rendition of Reckoner was immediately followed by Back In The Game, a song that could easily feature in a DJ Hell set and possibly the most abrasive techno Sidney Myer Music Bowl has witnessed since the last Kiss My Grass festival.”

At the end of the review, Lewis commented that fans attending the shows should “Just trust the process and enjoy the master at work.”
