IT'S ALIVE... this November
Mary Shelley's classic tale Frankenstein is famous for many things, perhaps most of all for its frequent reference by people desperate to appear learned by pointing out that "Frankenstein" is the doctor, not the monster. We know, OK?
However, that should hopefully cease being a problem pretty soon when 20th Century Fox's Victor Frankenstein, starring James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class) and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter films), hits cinemas this November, with the first trailer for the upcoming flick revealing a markedly different take on the horror classic.
McAvoy stars as the titular mad scientist, with Radcliffe stepping into the shoes of a young, apparently pre-hunchback Igor. Here, in a story told from young Igor's perspective, the pair are framed as misunderstood fringe scientists dedicated to realising their vision of "aiding humanity" by digging up corpses and running lightning strikes through them (we're probably oversimplifying). Naturally, as Frankenstein's successes become greater, so too do their inevitable consequences, leaving Igor to bring the good doc "back from the brink of madness" (might be a bit late, honestly) and save him from his "monstrous creation". Dun dun duuuuuuuuuun.
Check out the trailer below replete with endearing-as-hell intro vignette from the film's stars (McAvoy's palpable pride at remembering the movie's release date is especially wonderful).
