The Rolling StonesLess than three years after releasing their 24th album, Hackney Diamonds, The Rolling Stones have announced their 25th record, and it’s a star-studded affair.
Their upcoming record, Foreign Tongues, will be released on Friday, 10 July, via Capitol Records. The vibrant, 14-track collection is spearheaded by the new single, In The Stars, released yesterday (5 May) alongside the album’s opening track, Rough And Twisted.
Along with vocalist Mick Jagger and guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, the album is home to the band’s key collaborators, Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford, and Steve Jordan. It also features a special appearance by longtime drummer, Charlie Watts, recorded during one of his final creative sessions with the band before his passing in 2021.
Watts isn’t the only special guest who features on Foreign Tongues. In fact, The Rolling Stones have amassed an impressive roster of rock icons to join them, including Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, and Steve Winwood.
The album can be pre-ordered/pre-saved in multiple formats here.
Mick Jagger said the recording process for Foreign Tongues took place during a “very intense few weeks.”

He explained, “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks, and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big, so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”
Keith Richards added: “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds, and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it's all about the enjoyment of it. I'm blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”
Ronnie Wood also commented on the creative atmosphere that poured into the record. “The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process,” Wood said. “Very often, we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it.”
The striking album art was painted by acclaimed American artist Nathaniel Mary Quinn, who said of scoring the key honour, “Creating the album cover for the Rolling Stones is an artistic honour - a dialogue with one of the most enduring forces in cultural history.”
Foreign Tongues is the follow-up to Hackney Diamonds, which, in 2023, marked The Rolling Stones’ first album of original material in 18 years.
They kicked off that album campaign with a single, Angry, which featured Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney in the stylish music video and became a Top 40 hit in 12 countries—their first in the UK since 2005.
