Punk music pioneers Public Image Ltd (PiL) are making their long-awaited return to Australia and New Zealand in early 2027.

Embarking on their This Is Not… The Final PiL Tour, the band’s upcoming shows follow sold-out European and North American legs in 2026, marks their first time in Australia since 2013 and their first shows in New Zealand since 1989.

The tour begins in New Zealand, with the band performing at Auckland’s Powerstation on Wednesday, 20 January. From there, they head to Australia.

The Australian shows begin at Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Friday, 22 January, and continue at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday, 23 January, Melbourne’s Forum on Sunday, 24 January, Adelaide’s The Gov on Tuesday, 26 January, and conclude at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Thursday, 28 January.

Pre-sale tickets will be available this Friday, 8 May, at 9 am local time, followed by the general sale on Tuesday, 12 May, via The Phoenix and Metropolis Touring.

Formed by John Lydon in June 1978 after The Sex Pistols disbanded, PiL will perform classics from across their catalogue, including groundbreaking early works like Public Image and Metal Box. For this tour, longstanding members Bruce Smith (drums), Lu Edmonds (guitar) and Scott Firth (bass) will deliver the grooves the band are known for.

PiL’s most recent album, End of World, was released in August 2023. Their eleventh studio album followed two post-reunion albums: 2012’s This is PiL and 2015’s What the World Needs Now….

Also in 2023, PiL put themselves in the running to represent Ireland at Eurovision, despite Lydon describing the annual Song Contest as “absolutely awful,” “disgusting,” and “dreadfully phony.”
