Get ready for a lot of 'Skins' nostalgia.

More Vacations More Vacations

Towards the end of last year TikTok users started to realise they love the hell out of UK teen drama, Skins

Wait, like mid-2000s Skins

Yeah, that's the one. The show that helped launch the careers of some of the UKs most loved young actors (like Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Kaluuya, Hannah Murray, Dev Pattel, Nicholas Hoult, Mike Bailey and seemingly half the eventual cast of Game Of Thrones) while looking at some of the trickier elements of being a teenager.

But why?

Initially it started with TikTok users - who are primarily too young to have watched the show when it was originally airing between 2007-2013 - discovering the show and then playing the show's theme song while pretending to be key characters like Cassie, Effy and Sid.

But also, why?

To be honest, no one is really sure why apart from that people love nostalgia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Okay, so how does an Australian band fit into this?

This is where things get interesting; Newcastle group Vacations and their dreamy track Young have been brought into the fold with TikTok users now heavily associating the track with character Cassie.

There's a few different versions that are popping up on the platform though; one with the track playing underneath Cassie's famous "I love her, I love her, I love her" scene and another just with footage of Cassie. Check out the YouTube version of it below.

It goes further than just Skins though...

Since the track's popularity has risen through the Skins angle, it's now gone further with TikTokkers (is that the word? Please help me, I'm old) now using Young to show their daily adventures with a full nostalgia-type vibe about it.

Even more than that, it's now spawned another Skins angle

So the whole "I love her, I love her, I love her" take has gone a step further too, with users now taking the original track, slowing it down and adding reverb for another take.

Where will this go next?

Really, your guess is as good as mine. For now, I ponder this question about myself...

Check out the original version of Young below.
