Thy Art Is MurderBlacktown-bred deathcore (or "whatever") heroes Thy Art Is Murder have fended off controversy over a recent graphic video clip to claim a top-10 debut on this week's ARIA Albums Chart, taking #7 with their new studio full-length Holy War.
It's a strong entry for the unlikely chart stars, but it was unfortunately no match at all for the sheer pulling power of John Farnham & Olivia Newton-John, whose joint release Two Strong Hearts stepped out in monstrous style to take #1 on entry, displacing previous top spot-holder Ed Sheeran (for X), who takes a double tumble to #3 as Meghan Trainor's Title climbs up to sit at #2.
The Blacktown outfit do, however, come in ahead of Tori Kelly, who enters the ladder at #8 with new LP unbreakable smile, while resurgent punk vets Refused also make it out right on the top-10 cutoff with their long-awaited new album, Freedom. Also notably new this week are Meek Mill (Dreams Worth More Than Money, #26), country star Kacey Musgraves (Pageant Material, #33) and August Burns Red (Found In Faraway Places, #43). Plus, it's a strong result for megachurch band Hillsong United — Empires is up 16 spots to hit #5 this week.
There is less activity on the debut side of things in the Singles stakes — RÜFÜS make the highest entry with You Were Right at #22, well ahead of next-highest new faces Little Sea, with Change For Love at #46 — but there's a bit of movement down at the pointy end of things: Rachel Platten's Fight Song steps up two spots to take the #2 position, just under Meghan Trainor and John Legend's incumbent #1 single Like I'm Gonna Lose You, and The Weeknd see their cut Can't Feel My Face rise nine spots to #4, while Headlights, by Robin Schulz (featuring Isey) makes a very credible leap from #22 to #6. However, it's not such a great week for Grace, who slips out of the top five (formerly #3) to have her track You Don't Own Me, featuring G. Eazy, drop to #8.
