Paul KellyPaul Kelly is heading to Brisbane next week for a one-off, intimate performance.
Kelly will take over Brisbane’s Lefty’s Music Hall for a rare, one-night-only show on Monday, 31 August, in celebration of the deluxe edition of his latest album, Seventy, as well as promoting new single Stardust.
The Before Too Long hitmaker will be joined on stage by his nephew, Dan Kelly, for “an intimate night of songs spanning the old, the new and everything in between.” Additionally, special guest Jem Cassar-Daley is set to accompany the pair for a song or two.
As it’s an intimate venue, tickets are very limited. Pre-sale tickets will be available from 7 am AEST tomorrow, followed by the general sale on Saturday, 29 August, at 7 am AEST. You can secure tickets via Oztix.
Kelly’s upcoming performance at Lefty’s Music Hall accompanies his return to Kings Cross on Sunday, 30 August. For that gig, he’ll perform a one-off show at The Potts Point Hotel. A recently completed mural of Kelly, painted by Scottie Marsh, covers the venue's exterior wall.
Upon its release last year, Seventy landed at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart and followed Kelly’s sold-out arena tour. The Music’s Tyler Jenke described the album as “arguably one of the year’s finest records.”
In other Paul Kelly news, the renowned singer-songwriter isn’t just playing in Brisbane next week; he’s also heading to BIGSOUND. He’ll appear in conversation with ABC journalist Sarah Kanowski, where he’s expected to discuss the “importance of the songwriter and songwriting in shaping our music culture.”
Kelly’s appearance will be presented in conjunction with APRA AMCOS and in celebration of 100 years of Australian songwriting.
