“Every Aussie grows up seeing the Sydney Opera House on postcards and TV, but never in a million years did I think I’d be standing on it - let alone dropping onto it from a helicopter...”

This morning, Parkway Drive made history.
The band performed a dramatic aerial stunt from a helicopter at the Sydney Opera House, with vocalist Winston McCall descending from the aircraft onto the building’s iconic sails.
McCall performed the historic stunt at dawn, landing on a 60-centimetre platform from 65 metres high. The reason? Parkway Drive are promoting their recent sold-out show at the Sydney Opera House—backed by a symphonic orchestra—where they turned metalcore into a black-tie event for one night only.
Both the concert and footage of the helicopter stunt will feature in Parkway Drive’s upcoming concert feature film, titled HOME, from the Sydney Opera House.
HOME was produced by Hype Republic, directed by Allan Hardy (Viva The Underdogs) and Macario De Souza (Bra Boys) and will be distributed by Mushroom Studios. In 2026, HOME will be released in cinemas nationwide.

“Every Aussie grows up seeing the Sydney Opera House on postcards and TV, but never in a million years did I think I’d be standing on it - let alone dropping onto it from a helicopter,” McCall commented in a statement. “That’s an experience I’ll never forget. There’s nothing quite like it.”
Allan Hardy added, “This was one of the most ambitious projects we’ve tackled - from a sold-out Sydney Opera House show to a world-first helicopter stunt. Parkway Drive don’t shy away from challenges, and neither did our team. Proud to have brought it to life with such a focused and fearless crew.”
Reviewing the HOME concert back in June, The Music’s Alasdair Belling described the show as a “total, unforgettable triumph” and declared: “With a choir also filing onstage for specific songs, it quickly became apparent that, rather than just riffs with string beds, this was a full-tilt heavy metal extravaganza.”
The epic helicopter stunt comes during a busy year for Parkway Drive.
Since releasing their new song Sacred earlier this year, the band have been announced as the headliners for the inaugural Hellbound metal cruise, performed with the Sydney Symphonic Orchestra at the Opera House in June, and drummer Ben Gordon appeared in an episode of Chris Hemsworth’s LIMITLESS documentary. Next year, Parkway Drive will bring their festival, Park Waves, Down Under.
