On Friday (15 May), Drake unveiled not one, not two, but three surprise albums. And one of them included a shoutout to Melbourne.

As shared by a poster on the Melbourne Reddit, the popular Canadian rapper mentioned Melbourne in the intro of his song, Dust – the second track from his newly released Iceman album.

In the first verse, he cites his relationship with Melbourne again when he talks about “Girls from Australia.”

On his February 2025 Anita Max Win tour, Drake also hosted a private, phone-free karaoke show in Maison Batard’s Le Club on Bourke Street, Melbourne, which reportedly featured 25 Miss Universe contestants.

The lyrics referencing Melbourne read:

Madda

Some idiot boy dere

You should go ahead and pop some corn and grab a stool

The boy’s about to break some news

All the numbers are final, no t-shirts, no vinyl

Y’all ‘bout to make me richie like Lionel, for real

And that’s the truth

Sixteen hours ahead in Melbourne, I don’t even know what’s goin’ on back home, straight

Ayy

Girls from Atlanta call me Santa

Girls from Australia, what can I tell ya?

You know I love you so much

I just gotta handle somethin’ bigger than us

Triple S was really to show you my love

And make sure you’re good ‘til the next time we meet up

But now I gotta send it up

Drake released a trio of albums: Iceman, Habibti and Maid of Honour, on Friday.

His first solo collections since 2023’s For All The Dogs (and his first since his infamous Kendrick Lamar flame war), Drake brings in the heavy hitters and rising new rappers, including Future, 21 Savage, Sexyy Red, Molly Santana and Loe Shimmy, with an equally impressive production list with Boi-1da, Ovrkast, Riot and DJ Frisco954 in the credits.

The albums’ releases were announced during the fourth episode of Drake’s ongoing Iceman livestream series, alongside a slate of music videos shot across Toronto, featuring epic cameos by comedian Shane Gillis, media personality DJ Akademiks, and Drake’s son, Adonis.
