DMA'SDMA’S have just scored their first-ever #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, while also topping the Australian Albums Chart, with their new, self-titled album.
The achievement is greater still, as the Sydney indie rockers become the second Australian act to debut at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart this year, following Perth progressive metal titans Karnivool in February.
DMA’S’ latest album follows an already impressive upward trajectory on the ARIA Charts. Their first record, Hills End, reached #8 in 2016, For Now made it to #7 in 2018, and both 2020’s The Glow and 2023’s How Many Dreams? reached #2 on the chart.
“Congratulations to DMA’S on a career-best chart performance, taking the number one spot with their self-titled album no less,” ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, commented in a statement.
“This is just another achievement in a string of incredible work over more than a decade, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome them to the top of the ARIA Chart.”
In addition to their #1 in Australia, DMA’S reached the top ten on the UK’s Official Charts.
In other moves on the ARIA charts, Miss Kaninna reached #8 on the Albums Chart, #2 on the Australian Albums Chart, and #4 on the Vinyl Chart with her debut mixtape, BLACKPRINT. Vera Blue went to #12 on the overall Albums Chart, #3 on the Vinyl Chart and #3 on the Australian Albums Chart with her latest record, Modern Rituals.
Brisbane rapper, producer and singer Nerve debuted at #14 on the Albums Chart with Growing Pains, also reaching #4 on the Australian Albums Chart.
DMA’S presented intimate album launch parties throughout this month ahead of their full-blown East Coast tour in November.
They’ll perform at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall, Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens (as part of the Live At The Gardens series), and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt (as part of the On The Steps program).
For the November dates, DMA’S will promote their self-titled album as well as commemorate the tenth anniversary of their beloved debut album, Hills End.
