Pop punk band Set Your Goals have announced that they are currently in the studio working on a new album. The new record is the band's follow up to 2009's 'This Will Be The Death Of Us.'

Carnifex, whose dark and abrasive brand of death metal will tear audiences to shreds with the announcement of an underage headlining sideshow in Melbourne whilst they are in town supporting Darkest Hour on their national tour in January. The band will perform one show only at 2pm at Phoenix Youth Centre in Footscray on Friday January 7. Non-stop touring and methodical songwriting have seen Carnifex rise quickly among the modern death metal ranks. Their debut album, The Diseased And The Poisoned, was armed to the teeth with an arsenal of blast beats, machine gun riffs and vocals from the pits of hell, while the musical growth of their 2010 sophomore release, Hell Chose Me, has seen them tour with the likes of As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, Unearth and The Black Dahlia Murder. With a live show that reflects the brutality and aggressiveness of their albums, audiences are going to get pummeled. Reign Supreme, one of Philadelphia's most loved hardcore bands have announced plans to enter the studio in May with Will Putney (Four Year Strong, Chiodos) to record a new EP.

Post-hardcore group The Word Alive have announced the departure of bass player Nick Urlacher. The band are also accepting auditions for a new permanent bass player.Urlacher released the following statement:"This is hard to start off. What are the right words to say goodbye to a family of friends, family and fans who have changed your life for the last 3 years of your life? A simple goodbye wouldn't suffice. Yet a long drawn out one would be too much. I've decided to leave The Word Alive my friends. This decision doesn't come easy, by any means of the word. The other 5 members have been my road family and home family for what feels like an eternity. We had the best of times and the worst of times, but we were together playing music and touring the country together. We're friends who will always be there for one another no matter the price. Superstars of the death metal world, Aborted have announced plans to begin pre-production for their forthcoming album in early January 2011.  The Century Media Records giants have offered the following statement towards their plans: "Good news is that we are starting pre-productions for our upcoming record on January 4th. This means we will demo all the songs for the record, make sure everything sounds good and make the necessary adjustments to make sure they are all more lethal than a chainsaw in Mr. Leatherface's hands. We're all very excited about the material thus far and can't wait to get this over with and proceed to the actual recordings later this year. Expect a fall 2011 release through our culprates in mayhem Century Media."

Melbourne punk rock band The Duvtons have just thrown a Christmas present out to the world by dropping their second digital single in two months via itunes. 'The Mushrooms Are Coming' was recorded at Sing Sing studios by Matt Voigt (The Nation Blue, The Living End, Rage Against The Machine, Powderfinger and many more). The mastering process was gracefully completed by US sound guru Tom Baker (Bad Religion, Parkway Drive, Nine Inch Nails, Michael Jackson and more) in Los Angeles.
