Millie Millgate moves up as Glenn Dickie takes her role

More Sounds Australia More Sounds Australia

Former EMI A&R veteran and Aussie BBQ co-founder Glenn Dickie has today confirmed his expected appointment as Export Music Producer at Sounds Australia, effective immediately.

As part of today's announcement Millie Millgate – the previous Export Music Producer – has been promoted to the position of Executive Producer. Last year Millgate was adjudged to be the fifth most powerful person in the music industry in the AMID Power 50.

Dickie's appointment comes after the EMI restructure under new owners Universal and bolsters Sounds Australia's export focus.

Other recent staff moves include Alicia Kish (formerly of Ivy League Records and Sydney Festival) who takes up the role of Associate Producer while Esti Zilber is on maternity leave. South Australian guru Dr Ianto Ware was appointed National Live Music Coordinator of Sounds Australia: Local|Live last month.

Today Millgate said, “I couldn't be more excited about the respective skills and expertise that Glenn, Ianto and Alicia bring to Sounds Australia and what this will mean in terms of us providing an expanded suite of services for artists and music businesses alike.”

She added, “The growth of Sounds Australia is testament to the belief and investment both government and industry has made to date and I am truly inspired by the future and the opportunities that lay ahead.”

Dickie said the move “feels like a natural progression for me to move into this role. I'm really proud of what Mary [Mihelakos] and I have created with the Aussie BBQ and this new position allows me to work even closer on creating international opportunities for Australia's thriving contemporary music scene.”

Funded by the Federal Government, state government agencies and industry associations Sounds Australia is the market development initiative of APRA|AMCOS and Australia Council.
