Lorde, Miley & Katy: Music's Biggest Names Through The Lens Of Holly Engelhardt

4 February 2015 | 3:39 pm | Staff Writer

The first part in a new series that shines the spotlight on our photographers

Today we're debuting our new series On Exhibit, which will showcase the work of our talented team of photographers.

Each part in the series will focus on one specific photographer and in the first instalment, we're giving you a glimpse into the lens of Melbourne-based photog Holly Engelhardt.

Holly has taken a wide-range of snaps for The Music and theMusic.com.au, from capturing New Zealand superstar Lorde around the time Royals just started blowing up to making us all hungry with her all-important food snaps for our Pub Grub editions.

She's shot some of the music world's biggest names and Australia's most loved acts so here are a few pieces from her impressive collection — we must say, it's not a bad list of people to have gotten this close to:

And here's a little bit about Holly in her own words:

Who's been your favourite artist to shoot and why?

No specific favourite but there are so many memorable ones. Most recently, FKA Twigs was rad — she's an unreal performer and Miley Cyrus late last year was heaps of fun to shoot. GWAR was incredible/scary/fun/outrageous and another that springs to mind was snapping Lorde at her first Melbourne show in early 2013 at the Workers Club, as there was such a buzz just before her career really boomed.

What gear do you use?

Canon Body and most of the time swapping between Canon 50mm f/1.4, 28-70mm f/2.8L II and Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 lenses.

Festival or regular show?

Festivals are good for catching a giant range of well-lit artists but I'm not really a huge festival person, and it's usually a fun, smaller and more dedicated crowd at a 'regular' show so I'll go with that one.
