Naarm/Melbourne-based alt rockers Loose Content have today detailed their forthcoming national tour in support of their recently-released debut EP, Costumes.

Originally hailed from Byron Bay, Loose Content were formed by three high school friends – bassist and vocalist MiLLa, guitarist Sam Sanders, and drummer Aquila Porter – and had managed to perform at festivals such as Byron Bay Bluesfest and the Woodford Folk Festival by the time they were 18.

Having relocated to Melbourne, the trio have made a name for themselves on the live scene with intense gigging and a relentless attitude to delivering stellar compositions that fuse their myriad influences with a mesmerising approach to alternative rock.

Releasing their music to adoring fans since 2024, the group have today released their debut EP, with Costumes available on digital and physical formats now.

Produced by Nick DiDia (who can be found in the credits for records by Powderfinger, Rage Against The Machine, Bruce Springsteen, and more), the EP is an exploration on societal and personal struggles, focusing on systemic inequalities as it also dives deep into the darker recesses of the human condition.

Thematically heavy, it’s a resonant piece of work, with tracks such as Tapestry Of Life showcasing Loose Content’s versatility as musicians.

“The song is our collective illustration of the interconnectedness of the human experience,” explains MiLLa. “My lyrics utilise pronouns such as ‘she’, ‘he’ and ’they’ in order to allow the listener to substitute their own personal perspective within these more generalised terms and therefore access a deeper and more intimate understanding/interpretation of the song’s message.

“As depicted within the portrait-centred sequences of the music video, we wanted the audience to reach the end credits with a newfound recognition that, despite our abundance of differences, both visible and invisible, at our core we all are one.”

Loose Content have also announced a trio of launch shows for this May, which launches in Brisbane at the Black Bear Lodge on May 16th, before visiting Bootleggers Newtown in Sydney on May 24th, and wraps up at The Tote on May 31st. Tickets to the tour are on sale now, while the group will also be performing in Sydney as part of Record Store Day on April 12th.

Vinyl copies of their Costumes EP are available to order from Impressed Recordings now, with the pressing limited to 200 on limited white vinyl. Those observing the music-lover’s holiday of Record Store Day will also be able to pick up one of 50 copies pressed on blood red vinyl, too.
