Eurovision is upon us and this year, thanks to the incredible Kate Miller-Heidke, we are actually looking at a pretty good chance for the win. 

In celebration of this year's event, we thought we'd take a look back and share some of our favourite facts and figures about the Eurovision Song Contest - including that time when Celine Dion herself took out the title. 

1. That time Euron Greyjoy was the host...

Okay, so we love the fact that Game Of Thrones' actor Pilou Asbæk hosted Eurovision so much that we wrote a whole story about it. You can read it here.

2. The song so loved even Bowie covered it

According to Eurovision, Domenico Mudugno's 1958 track Nel Blu Di Pinto Di Blu - also known as Volare - is among the most successful tracks to come out of the competition, though not necessarily Mudugno's version. David Bowie, Cliff Richard, Dean Martin and more have all recorded versions of the song.


3. ABBA made their conductor dress as Napoleon and we are here for it

5.  Celine damn Dion winning the 1988 Eurovision competition

Look at little baby Celine - here she performs Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi which took out the top prize for Switzerland that year.
