Happy Mondays, the British indie rock music pioneers are returning to Australia for a “Twenty-Four Hour Party People Greatest Hits Tour” this October.

The band is presently led by founding members vocalist Shaun Ryder, guitarist Mark Day and drummer Gary Whelan, longtime co-vocalist Rowetta, dancer and percussionist Mark “Bez” Berry, and Dan Broad (keyboards, samples, programming, musical director).

“We’re thrilled to be heading back to Australia,” Ryder said in a press release. “The fans there have always shown us so much love, and we can’t wait to give them a show they’ll never forget.”

Happy Mondays last visited Australia in March 2019, when they performed their seminal Pills 'n' Thrills & Bellyaches album in full.

Following its release in 1990, Pills 'n' Thrills & Bellyaches helped Happy Mondays break the big time, as it went platinum in the UK and featured hit tracks such as Step On and Kinky Afro.

For this visit, Happy Mondays will begin the tour at The Tivoli, Brisbane, followed by the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, the Forum in Melbourne, The Gov in Adelaide and Metropolis Fremantle.

General public tickets will be sold on Friday, 21 April, at 9 am local time. However, if you’re after pre-sale tickets, sign up here to access Early Bird tickets. The Early Bird sale begins tomorrow, Wednesday, 19 April, at 9 am local time. Tickets will be available via Destroy All Lines.

Happy Mondays’ upcoming Australian tour will be their first run of shows down under since bassist Paul Ryder, Shaun’s brother, passed away last year at the age of 58.
