Naarm/Melbourne dance punks Gut Health are hitting the road this April, bringing their Highly Contagious concert out to regional Victoria for the first time.
Originally beginning life as a zine by bassist Adam Markmann amidst the global pandemic, Highly Contagious started as a way to give music lovers something tangible, and to provide a way to interact with music in an entirely new way.
The zine was resurrected as a real-life event last year, when it debuted at Brunswick’s Estonian House for the Brunswick Music Festival, with the likes of Sneaks, Frenzee, Vanessa Worm, and DJs Lori and Cease And Desist in tow.
Following this successful debut, Highly Contagious is back again in 2025, and – living up to its name – it’s spreading as it announces its first event in regional Victoria.
Kicking off at Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal at 3pm on Saturday, April 19th, the afternoon is packed with a veritable convention of Naarm legends on deck. Alongside Gut Health themselves, punters can expect the likes of Alien Nosejob, Gregor, and Palm Springs, while Miss Brenna O of Wet Kiss and Silicone Prairie will be behind the decks on the day as well.
Tickets to the Castlemaine debut of Highly Contagious are on sale now.

Only a few months ago the band unveiled their eagerly-anticipated debut album Stiletto, which has received widespread critical acclaim, and was even included on The Music’s list of best Australian albums of 2024.
If you're not in Melbourne and want to see Gut Health performing live sooner rather than later, they'll be heading north to Brisbane on April 12th for one of The Brightside's SILO shows. The stellar lineup will also see them performing alongside fellow Victorians Delivery, plus The Empty Threats, Sleepazoid, and Special Features. Tickets are on sale now.
