As always, Aussies have made a sizable impression on this year's International Songwriting Competition, with 60 songs honoured in the 2016 competition from Australian songwriters, including songs by Gang Of Youths, Kate Miller-Heidke, Dallas Frasca and Big Scary.
It sees Australia with the most winners next to the USA, following last year where Birds Of Tokyo, Meg Mac, Flight Facilities and more all took home wins.
This year's first place winners include Kate Miller-Heidke's I'm Growing A Beard Downstairs For Christmas (feat. The Beards) in the Comedy/Novelty category, Gang Of Youths' David Le'aupepe for Magnolia in Rock, Glenn Cardier's A Cast Of Mistaken Identity in Performance and Perth's Matt Gresham for Survive On Love in Unpublished.
Big Scary's The Opposite Of Us took home second place for Adult Album Alternative, alongside Tim Maxx and Adam Katz for Only You in EDM and Oscar Jimenez and La Phonoclorica for Vuelve A Nacer in Latin Music. Phebe Starr, Josh Rennie-Hynes and Katrina Burgoyne/Goran Kralj/Joe Doyle all took home third place wins.
