Spiderbait Plot 'Ivy & The Big Apples' 30th Anniversary Australian Tour

Beloved Aussie rockers Spiderbait are hitting the road this year, commemorating the 30th anniversary of their iconic third album, Ivy & The Big Apples.

Released in 1996, Ivy & The Big Apples marked a significant breakthrough for the band, not only propelling their music to a more polished sound but also taking them to new commercial heights. The record debuted at #3 in Australia, went double Platinum, and stayed in the ARIA Charts’ Top 50 for almost a year.

While the singles Calypso and Hot Water & Milk were successful, it was Buy Me A Pony that cemented Spiderbait’s legacy, becoming the first homegrown song ever to win the triple j Hottest 100. In addition to connecting with young Australians, the album won over the local music industry, earning the 1997 ARIA Award for Best Alternative Release.

Spiderbait will celebrate Ivy & The Big Apples’ 30th anniversary with a huge national tour and an anniversary edition record this July – pre-order the vinyl here.

The tour begins at Brisbane’s The Tivoli on Saturday, 4 July. From there, it continues at Perth’s Ice Cream Factory on Saturday, 11 July, Melbourne’s Forum on Friday, 24 July, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Saturday, 25 July, and concludes at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Friday, 31 July.

For the shows, Spiderbait will be joined by a roster of Australian rock and roll royalty, including Custard, The Gnomes, The Meanies, Magic Dirt, and Tumbleweed. You can find out which bands open your show below.
