Just weeks away from the release of their forthcoming album, Underneath, Naarm/Melbourne rockers Floodlights have orchestrated a double-drop, sharing both a new single and national tour dates.
The new single, Buoyant, is the latest to be lifted from Underneath, which arrives on March 21st. It’s a stellar piece of work that follows on seamlessly from the release of previous singles Can You Feel It, Cloud Away, and The Light Won’t Shine Forever.
“This song is about aging and how it can be tricky to reconcile with,” explains Floodlights’ Louis Parsons. “So often as a young person, you are quick to point out the flaws in the older generation, traits that have been instilled in them but not in you.
“It made me think, what will my generation be stubborn about and will my views become outdated and if they do, will I have the openness to change them and listen to new beliefs,” he adds. “I don’t want to just sink below the noise, I want to have the grace to change.”
The track is also accompanied by music video directed by Ava Clifforth and Henry Gosper of Good Grief Productions, featuring two partygoers who fall into a backyard and pool and live out a lifetime of milestones together as a couple.
Alongside the new track, Floodlights have also detailed a national album tour, which will see them performing across the country this May.
