“We will always be true to our sound, something that can be done whilst also pushing the boundaries of our comfort," Floodlights' Louis Parsons says of the new track.

Naarm/Melbourne rockers Floodlights are readying themselves for 2025 to be a big one, announcing not only the release of third album, Underneath, but also sharing their latest single, Cloud Away.
Released today, Cloud Away arrives almost two months after Can You Feel It, which gave fans an insight into the sweeping direction their new record is taking.
"Just like a cloud, feelings come and go, life changes and so do people,” explained lead vocalist and guitarist Louis Parsons. “Cloud Away is a song about hope and how even in the lowest of times, we can still find a way to navigate the winding road. It speaks to the simple beauties of life and how we use projections of the future to lift ourselves from the present.
“We wanted to explore different techniques in this song as a way to express our individual and collective evolution. Sarah's soaring vocals, coupled with whispering, swelling synths and an arpeggiator are tools we haven't used before which resulted in something desirably different.
“We will always be true to our sound, something that can be done whilst also pushing the boundaries of our comfort,” they added. “A massive shoutout to the brilliant Dan Luscombe for playing an important role in the creation of this song."

Cloud Away also comes accompanied by a video directed by close collaborators Ava Clifforth and Henry Gosper of Good Grief Productions. Utilising a rich blend of traditional art styles and emerging tech, it features brightly coloured forests, wildflower fields, and lakeside dreamscapes, with the visuals developed through in-camera effects, AI generative tools, and over 600 hand-crafted frames, with animation by New York-based 2D artist Ewan Creed.
The new track will appear on Underneath, which is slated to arrive on March 21st, 2025. Their third record, it’s an album that was born out of a heavy period of touring for the group both at home and overseas as they played some of their biggest shows and festivals to date.
Finding immense closeness and catharsis during the writing process, the resulting songs represent a process of reckoning, reflection and growth both individually and as a group, and arriving as a collective meditation on their vulnerabilities, hopes, fears, anticipations, passions and tensions.
News of the new record also arrives just weeks after the band announced a global signing with the legendary [PIAS] Recordings, indicating their new era sees them on the cusp of even more well-deserved global recognition.
Floodlights' Underneath is out on March 21st, 2025, with pre-orders and pre-saves available now.
