The pounding heads of FIELD DAY punters on NYD were quickly cured as club-centric music encapsulated the festival grounds.

Those who pushed past the nauseous feeling that goes hand-in-hand with New Year's Day and journeyed into Sydney’s Domain definitely got compensated with an amazing blend of acts, putting music lovers straight back in the mood to party.

The pounding heads of fellow FIELD DAYers were quickly cured as club-centric music encapsulated the festival grounds.

Melbourne's INDIAN SUMMER kicked off the day on the main stage with their unique dance inspired beats which got the crowd off their feet and in the mood for a day of music. The appreciation of Australian tunes remained at an all-time high as the boys from FLIGHT FACILITIES kicked it old school with a raging 90’s DJ set. I have never seen so many people bopping to Biggie Small’s “Juicy” and screaming to Mark Morrison’s “Return of the Mac”.

Other highlights included British alt dance band, CRYSTAL FIGHTERS. Easy on the ears and interesting on the eyes, they came out dressed in exotic, colourful outfits. Lead singer Sebastian Pringle had his head covered with a blanket for almost the entirety of the first song, drawing the crowd in with his mysterious aura.

The highlight of the day however was the vocals of the mesmerizing Hannah Reid of LONDON GRAMMAR fame. It’s a bit hard not to steal the show with such an encapsulating and ghostly voice which brought the audience to the same level. She managed to still leave everyone on a high as performed her renowned “Strong” and “Wasting my Young years” ballads which saw the audience swaying in awe.

Fans were in for a treat as CHET FAKER used Field Day as a launching pad for some new music. An evident standout from the singer / songwriter's enticing set was his upbeat groovy tempo “1998” which complimented his alluring voice.

The festival's headline act was the one and only 2013 Aussie breakthrough producer FLUME. His career is soaring into the new year as he recently stole the show at the Aria Awards winning Best Male, Best Dance Album, Breakthrough Artist – Release and Producer of the Year. Known for his electric and meteoric rise to prominence, FLUME sent his audience into a frenzy as he broadcast his signature sound of disjointed beats rhythms and chopped vocals. He joined forced with good friend CHET FAKER as he topped off his set with ‘Drop the Game’ as the encore.
