And they're oddly happy about it
5 Seconds Of Summer
Australian four-piece 5 Seconds Of Summer might have broken through to wider recognition with a little help from some British friends, but it seems the love isn't just one of those strange behaviours endemic to English people after all, following the band's announcement as the recipients of this year's "Worst Band" prize at the 2015 NME Awards.
Because they're wacky punks, the boys naturally celebrated the victory, with guitarist Michael Clifford possibly protesting too much with an overenthusiastic tweet expressing his "gratitude" for being labelled a terrible musician by the awards' pool of voters.
Won the NME worst band award. I'm so damn happy right now. thx to everyone who voted #dreamscomingtrue

Fellow Aussie Iggy Azalea also walked away with an award, nabbing the only slightly more legitimate "Dancefloor Filler" for her collaboration with Charli XCX, Fancy. Other big winners of the night included Kasabian, who took out Best Album (48:13), Best British Band and Best Quote; Royal Blood, who grabbed Best Live Band and Best New Band; and Jamie T, whose single Zombie picked up Best Track and Best Video, and whose comeback was also apparently the best of the year.
