The annual countdown goes down this Saturday from midday (AEDT).
Voting for the 2021 Hottest 100 is officially closed ahead of this weekend's countdown!
And with triple j noting across the weekend that this year's countdown is gonna be tight, we thought it would be a good time to revisit “the internet's most accurate prediction" of the annual countdown, 100 Warm Tunas.
For those unfamiliar with the website, it tallies votes based on screenshots and hashtags posted to social media and, while the figures are not an official indicator of votes, the Warm Tunas platform has been on the money in the past.
Over the past five years, Warm Tunas has successfully predicted three of the Hottest 100 winners, including Glass Animals’ Heat Waves (2020), Ocean Alley’s Confidence (2018) and Kendrick Lamar’s Humble (2017).
It was also pretty close with the 2019 winner, placing Billie Eilish’s Bad Guy at #2 ahead of its win, while doing the same with Flume’s Never Be Like You for the 2016 countdown.

At the time of publishing, Warm Tunas has the 2021 Hottest 100 countdown top 10 looking like the below.
No big surprises there, given The Wiggles received wide acclaim for their Like A Version cover of a Tame Impala classic.
Triple J has also previously noted that it was the top Like A Version last year and racked up more views than the rest of the top 10 from 2021 combined.
But, as we’ve previously seen, the second artist on the Warm Tunas list each year also has a pretty good chance of claiming the top spot, so we could see Gang Of Youths take out the honour with the angel of 8th ave on January 22.
This year, the countdown party is starting early, with the Hottest 200-101 tracks being aired ahead of the main countdown on January 21 from 10am local time.
The Hottest 100 will then be followed by Double J's Hottest 100 of 2001 on January 23, making it a whole Hottest weekend.
