Troy Cassar-Daley ProfileAs part of 2027’s NAIDOC Week celebrations, Country music icon and proud Gumbaynggirr and Bundjalung man Troy Cassar-Daley is teaming up with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and taking over Hamer Hall at Arts Centre Melbourne on Saturday, 10 July.
For his debut performance with the MSO, Cassar-Daley will spotlight his powerful songwriting and soulful voice in a grand Melbourne venue. And his music will be heard in a way it could never be imagined for the first time.
Promising new arrangements of acclaimed songs such as River Boy, Shadows on the Hill, Take a Walk in My Country, Born to Survive, Dream out Loud and Some Days, Cassar-Daley will reimagine his catalogue alongside composer Alex Turley and conductor Aaron Wyatt; the latter is the first Indigenous Australian to conduct a state symphony orchestra in concert.
Turley’s orchestral arrangements have been co-commissioned by the Melbourne, Queensland and Sydney Symphony Orchestras. After the Melbourne performance, Cassar-Daley will present his new special show in Brisbane on Friday, 16 July, and in Sydney on Wednesday, 4 August.
Tickets are now available via the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra website.
“I’m incredibly excited to be performing with the MSO and to share these songs with fans in a completely new way,” Cassar-Daley said.
He continued, “While it’s challenging to select a playlist from more than 30 years of songwriting, arranger Alex Turley and the MSO have turned the process into one of discovery, renewal and reinvention.
“As NAIDOC Week 2027 focuses on the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, I’m proud to have played a small part in the tradition of First Nations storytelling through music, and I hope reimagining my songs this way can help inspire our wonderful next generation of singers and storytellers.”
Troy Cassar-Daley is one of Australia’s most acclaimed artists. He’s taken home 45 Golden Guitar Awards, six ARIA Awards, four CMAA Entertainer of the Year titles, three APRA Song of the Year Awards, the 2025 Queensland Music Awards Album of the Year, and has been inducted into the Australasian Roll of Renown.
He’s also released 12 albums, amassed 33 #1 chart singles, and earned multiple Gold and Platinum records.
