More Powderfinger Powderfinger Profile

To the surprise of nobody, Powderfinger’s upcoming tour across Australia has been met with phenomenal demand.

Artist and Telstra pre-sales for each show opened today, and already, additional dates have been announced for Melbourne Park Oval and the Brisbane Showgrounds. The beloved Aussie rockers had already announced four shows in both cities, and now they’ll play six.

The new dates are Monday, 25 and Wednesday, 27 October at Melbourne Park Oval, and Monday, 6 and Wednesday, 8 September at the Brisbane Showgrounds. Artist and Telstra pre-sales for the newly announced shows are now open.

With more pre-sales across the country opening at different times today, we expect more shows to be added to Powderfinger’s itinerary; we’ll update this article as more details come in.

Powderfinger will take over outdoor spaces across the country in September and October 2027 by playing in an “epic, stadium-sized big top.” Punters can buy standing or seated tickets, with curated food and drinks and a special atmosphere to keep fans enthralled.

Following today’s pre-sales, the My Live Nation pre-sale opens on Friday, 16 October, followed by the general sale sold via Ticketmaster on Monday, 19 October.

Tickets to all shows will go on sale at staggered times to manage demand. To see when tickets go on sale in your city, check The Music’s guide to buying tickets to Powderfinger’s tour.

The tour marks Powderfinger’s first shows since their disbandment and farewell tour in November 2010. For their reunion run, they’ll kick things off in their home city of Brisbane, then head to Cairns, Perth, Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne.

One of Australia’s most consistent chart-toppers, every one of Powderfinger’s albums from 1998 until 2009 topped the Australian charts, earning them two spots atop triple j’s annual Hottest 100 countdown, three APRA Awards (including two for Song Of The Year), and 18 ARIA Awards – the third-highest amount of wins for an act to date.

Upon announcing their reunion tour on Monday, the band said:

We are absolutely ecstatic to be coming together to play again. Over the years there have been tons of suggestions for us to go back on the road but, until now, it never felt quite right or lined up for all of us.

We have always been so grateful for the continued support from our long-term fans and over the years we've picked up a lot of new ones who have never seen us play. So, it feels right to bring all of these people (including our kids who were too young to see us play) together for a special run of shows around the country next year.

People often tell us that our music is connected to their most treasured and joyous memories. We hope to spread a little more of that joy when we make our way around the country with some of Australia’s best established and upcoming talent, and to make some new memories for us all.
