Missing Link Records closing down after 30 years
One of Melbourne's best known independent record store's Missing Link Records will be closing down after nearly 30 years of trading. Earlier in the year rumours spread about the stores closure, but owner Nigel Rennard had stated that it wouldn’t happen ‘any time soon’. He has now issued a statement announcing that as of Friday October 7th, Missing Link Records will be no more. In July, Brisbane's Rocking Horse Records announced they were on the verge of closing only to be saved by locals coming back to the store and spending in numbers out of protest. The tatement from Missing Link Records reads: After 30 years of retail, in the Melbourne CBD, Missing Link Records will cease trading on Friday 7th October. The doors at 405 Bourke Street will be closing for the last time, however the store will continue under the management of Collectors Corner, as it has traded for the last year, in a new location to be announced shortly. Confession announce local supports
Following the success of their debut album Cancer (2009) and sold-out national tours throughout 2010, Australian hardcore band Confession prepares to push forward. With members living in Adelaide, Byron Bay and Melbourne, the quintet took proceedings to the North Coast, to the Parkway house in Byron Bay, to write 10 new songs. Doing so essentially “made this record what it is,” as being in the house is so “relaxing and peaceful,” tells vocalist Michael Crafter. Recorded with iconic Swedish metal producer Fredrik Nordström (Bring Me The Horizon, I Killed The Prom Queen, In Flames), at his Gothenburg Studio, The Long Way Home presents an assured and strengthened outfit. “We knew he was going to make this record sound amazing and he did exactly that,” says Crafter, of the talented producer.
