Respected senior entertainment attorney Marcus Walkom has officially launched his independent, specialist music and entertainment law practice, the eponymous Walkom Entertainment Lawyers.
Headquartered in Brisbane and operating across major global territories, Walkom finds himself operating alongside lawyer, musician, and artist Lauren Holyoak, with the launch coming after his 15 years spent specialising in music and entertainment law, and follows on from his previous role as a Partner and founder of the Brisbane office of Media Arts Lawyers prior to its closure last month.
By its own admission, Walkom Entertainment Lawyers presents as a firm which is approachable and deeply connected within the industry, offering legal services while maintaining a grounded understanding of the creative culture in which it operates.
It launches with an impressive roster of clients, spanning Grammy and ARIA Award-winning artists, labels, distributors, publishers, and more. This includes names such as Wolfmother, The Teskey Brothers, The Amity Affliction, King Stingray, The Chats, Playlunch, Untitled Group, and much more.

"Music careers are commercial businesses, and every stage of an artist’s journey hinges on strategic dealmaking—whether that’s with a label, distributor, publisher, manager, promoter, or brand," says Walkom, the Founder & Principal of Walkom Entertainment Lawyers.
"Our role is to ensure our clients navigate these arrangements from a position of real strength and clarity, making informed decisions that build sustainable, long-term careers.
"We’re building a genuinely global, highly connected practice that sits right at the heart of the music industry,” he adds, “close to the artists, the rightsholders, and the executives doing the deals across key territories, while offering the commercial agility needed for everything from a debut release deal through to major catalogue acquisitions.”
Alongside his newly-launched practice, Walkom continues to maintain leadership roles within the music industry. This includes a role as the founder of management company and record label We Are Golden, and roles as a board member of both the Association Of Artist Managers (AAM) and the Gold Coast Music Alliance (GCMA).
Walkom will also be appearing at BIGSOUND on Thursday, September 3rd, joining the Who Owns This Image? panel to discuss copyright, trademark law, and the ownership of music imagery.
