Luminous indie four-piece The Tommyhawks kick off a four-state tour this weekend but, before they hit the road, they've unveiled the clip for their fantastic new song, Bedroom, and we at theMusic.com.au are stoked to have been given the gift of premiering it today.
Opening with silky-smooth sax and and easy-strolling soundscape to match, the track is an effortlessly inviting four-and-a-half-minute tune that "explores the vulnerability of the mind".
According to the band's promotional material, "it is about finding the place between childhood and adulthood that certain things might have broken, and other things have healed" — and it's a downright delightful listen. With nearly three years together as a band behind them — and much longer as performers and musicians — it should come as little surprise that they're turning out treats of such energetic elegance.
The clip was written and directed by Arlo Dean Cook; the track was produced by Dave Parkin at Blackbird Sound Studio and mastered by William Bowden at King Willy Sounds. Written by frontwoman Addison Axe and her bandmates Jess June, Ness Thornton and Thea Woodward, Bedroom is the first taste from the band's impending third EP, This Is Not A Desert Island. It's officially released on Friday 31 March.
