Robbie WilliamsRobbie Williams is already returning to Australia later this year – playing to fans in stadiums, no less. But before the tour kicks off, he’ll make a special appearance at this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, 3 November.
Announced by The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) today, Williams is set to perform on the Elms Live Stage after the last race on the big day, as well as a special live performance in the Mounting Yard as part of the Nine Broadcast, just before the Lexus Melbourne Cup Trophy is delivered.
The latter marks the biggest pre-Melbourne Cup performance ever staged in Flemington, which will see Williams deliver his greatest hits alongside a string of backing dancers. His Cup Day performance is included in the price of a General Admission entry ticket.
“Australia, I’m coming in hot. Lexus Melbourne Cup Day will be my first stop before the BRITPOP Australian Tour, and I’m ready to make it unforgettable,” Williams commented in a statement. “Expect big songs, big energy and a massive celebration after the race that stops the nation.”

VRC Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers added, “Robbie Williams is a global music superstar and having him perform at Flemington for the first time is the perfect way to celebrate the prestige and significance of Lexus Melbourne Cup Day.
“We can’t wait to welcome Robbie and give fans a chance to enjoy the incredible energy, charisma, and world-class entertainment that has made him one of the most successful performers of his generation.”
The Elms Live Stage is located at the end of the Flemington straight, just past the winning post. It’s the centrepiece of the annual Melbourne Cup Carnival’s music program, which sees Williams and Australian DJ FISHER – performing on TAB Champions Stakes Day – deliver unforgettable moments for all in attendance.
More performers appearing on the Melbourne Cup Carnival entertainment line-up will be announced soon. Live music can be enjoyed for the price of a General Admission entry ticket – you can purchase tickets here.
This year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival begins with Howden Victoria Derby Day on Saturday, 31 October. The excitement continues with the big day – Cup Day – on Tuesday, 3 November, Crown Oaks Day on Thursday, 5 November, and concludes with TAB Champions Stakes Day on Saturday, 7 November.
Robbie Williams is touring across Australia and New Zealand in November, performing in support of his latest album, BRITPOP.
For the stadium run, he’ll be joined by an impressive roster of special guests, including Manchester indie-pop group The Lottery Winners, Melbourne singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer G Flip, and Wellington group Drax Project in New Zealand.
