Reelin' - Matt Corby

Matt Corby has kicked off the new year at a running pace, releasing the soft and soulful hit Reelin'. After a few tumultuous years of living on the NSW border with COVID restrictions and mass flooding, Corby found comfort in the chaos, and from it, his third album, Everything’s Fine, was born. Reelin' is the second single to be released off the LP, and along with 2022's Problems, it sets an expectation that this will be Corby's most mature and thought-out album yet. With soft, grooving baselines and husky, amber-like vocals, Corby blends folk, soul and R&B seamlessly. Fans can expect a left turn away from 2020's Happy Valley and a return to the sounds of 2016's Telluric, with a softer, more humble vibe.

Light Me Up - Stace Cadet

Australian producer, DJ, and vocalist Stace Cadet has stepped up his game with new single Light Me Up, which signifies his new venture into the Warner familyThis is the first time Stace Cadet has laid down lead vocals on one of his own tracks, and marks a new era filled with live instruments and a deeper connection with his audience. The song itself is one for the summer and got a cheeky spin during the recent Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks display. Bright and bubbly, it's a track that will reinvigorate the spirit and keep you on the dancefloor for just that little bit longer.

Sweat You Out My System - MAY-A

After a massive 2022, MAY-A returns this year with new single, Sweat You Out My System, filled with robust angst and a fiery feeling of heartbreak. After her hit single with Flume, Say Nothing, flew her to the top of the charts, it's becoming more and more apparent that MAY-A is here to stay. Sweat You Out My System is teeming with heavy emotion but in a fun and angsty way that makes you want to go to a gig and sweat out your problems squished in with 2000 other music lovers. Grungy guitars lay the bed for MAY-A's sweet and sassy vocals to shine, giving us the perfect blend between pop, punk and rock.

The Story - Masked Wolf

Masked Wolf (AKA Harry Michael) is back with another banger titled The Story, which takes us through, assumably, the story of Michael's life so far, from trauma through primary school to how rap and music changed his life. The creative elements of this song are truly what make it, and the production follows the intensity of the track, giving us a cinematic experience that's often left to the wayside in today's hit-hungry artists. It's a short song sitting at 1:55 minutes long, but that doesn't stop it from picking up speed, especially at the 1:20 mark, where the bass gets dirty, and the beats get fast.

Flowers - Miley Cyrus

If anyone has seen her rock-fueled covers of Blondie's Heart Of Glass or Madonna's Like A Prayer, it seemed that expectations were high for the new single and fans were hoping for something with a lot of punch, which on the first listen of Flowers, isn’t necessarily what we got. However, the single still shines bright, just in a different way. With a rhythmic baseline and soft melodic synths, Cyrus’ strong and husky vocals have more than enough room to fly. Akin to old-school slow-burn pop hits of the eighties, Flowers definitely kicks off a new era for Cyrus, but more than anything, it's an anthem of self-love. You might not hear it on a nightclub dancefloor, but it’s clear that people all around the world will hold this song close to their hearts.
