The Avalanches Unveil 31-Song Tracklist For 'No Bad Memories'

Pioneering Australian electronic trio The Avalanches are preparing to release their long-awaited new album, No Bad Memories, and have just unveiled the 31-song (!) tracklist.

Featuring already-released singles such as Together (feat. Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza & Prentiss), Every Single Weekend (feat. Jamie xx), Blue Shadows (feat. Karen O), and Can’t Get Over Losing You (feat. Portraits of Tracy), plus three songs featuring Faith No More’s Mike Patton, which The Music reported on yesterday, there’s plenty to enjoy for everyone.

Other collaborators who appear on the album include Carly Simon, Panda Bear, Barry Can’t Swim, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Erick the Architect, actor Haley Joel Osment, and more. Check out the full tracklisting, as well as a teaser trailer featuring Osment, below.

No Bad Memories will be released on Friday, 16 October, via Modular Recordings. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here.

The album focuses on the idea of forgotten machines becoming instruments, utilising discarded technology and transforming it into something joyful and human.

“Inspired by the simultaneously magical and insidious ways that advertising and name-brand technology wraps itself around our memories, it is an ambivalent ode to the nostalgic pull of commercial jingles, proprietary start-up sounds and long forgotten audio logos,” a press release notes.

The Avalanches added that their latest record is “Revisiting imagery and jingles from childhood and realising how profoundly they have stuck. Taking these sound sources from within the heart of this kinda corporate framework and flipping the fragments into our own kind of joyous pop music… Eventually we arrived at this world of No Bad Memories.”

No Bad Memories is the follow-up to 2020’s We Will Always Love You.
