Ausmusic T-Shirt Day, which has taken place every November since 2013, is a day that boasts recognition and support for Australian musicians. It was originally founded by Support Act, the music industry charity that provides crisis relief to musicians, managers, crew, and music workers of all sorts who are unable to work due to ill health, injury, a mental health problem, or other crises.

The concept of the day is simple: Support Act merely asks that you wear your favourite Aussie music tee, and, if you are able, make a donation to Support Act to aid all those in the music industry who may be struggling. Every donation helps this essential organisation to provide critical support to those across the musical spectrum in need.

And if there was ever a day where it was critical to donate - today is that day. Today only, an anonymous donor has generously stepped in to match all donations made to Support Act in the next twenty-four hours. Thus any monetary contribution made today will go twice as far in providing for music-workers in need. Donate here to make a difference.

Want to get involved but still in need of a T-Shirt? Don’t fret: a limited number of tees are available in the Support Act’s Premium T-Shirt Range as well as through a collection of Merch Partners who are all donating a portion of sales to the Ausmusic T-Shirt Day campaign.

Megan Hopkins - Countrytown Content Director

Wearing: Amber Lawrence

“Did you hear the news? Country's cool again! Not only is Amber Lawrence a queen of country music in Australia, I think Ambs has pretty much summed it up for the country-curious with "you can admit you like country music". I'm proud to be repping her this Aus Music T-Shirt day!”

Tyler Jenke - VIC State Writer

Wearing: TISM

“If anyone knows anything about me, it’s likely the fact I’m a massive TISM fan. The words ‘misspent youth’ come to mind, but I much prefer something like ‘avid’ and/or ‘dedicated’. Given the band wrap up their first headline tour in 20 years tomorrow night, it felt more than fitting to whip out one of their classic designs on for Ausmusic T-Shirt Day. (That, and the fact that having written a book about TISM over the past year means that my wardrobe is filled with nothing but their shirts. Again, ‘misspent youth’ is a phrase that comes to mind.)”

Emma Newbury - WA State Writer

Wearing: Pond

“This year I’m repping Freo band POND. This tee has got quite a bit of mileage since I first saw them live at my first or second Laneway. POND are genre chameleons and I love everything they do.”

Nick McDonald - Where To Content Lead

Wearing: Pist Idiots

"It's coming up on 4 years since the Pist Idiots quietly stop performing and as much as I miss them, their classic 2017 EP shirt means so much more to me than just a memento of a band I love.

It's such a representation of the Sydney music scene during those years, as you'd see this bright yellow beauty pop up at gigs up and down King Street. This era, especially in the inner west, felt like the first time our nightlife had a bit of excitement and energy following the lockout laws.

It's a nice little reminder that no matter how quiet, boring or dead Sydney might seem, you'll always find a spot of brightness where pissed idiots play rock music."

Mary Varvaris - Senior Staff Writer

Wearing: Parkway Drive

“With almost too many t-shirts to choose from, I couldn't go past repping Parkway Drive this Ausmusic T-Shirt Day. Perhaps the most influential and important heavy band to come out of Australia in the 2000s and 2010s, it's unlikely we'd have the booming scene today without Parkway paving the way with their music, non-stop touring ethic, and devotion to music. I'm a proud fan and feel grateful to have interviewed Winston McCall on two occasions!”

Tione Zylstra - QLD State Writer

Wearing: Special Features

“Funnily enough, Special Features were actually one of the first bands I ever interviewed when writing up an article about Anti-Dismal. Fast forward a year or two, and I just published a track-by-track of their debut EP! Time flies, man.”

Stephen Green - CEO

Wearing: Ammonia

“I'm rocking Ammonia's Mint 500 t-shirt today. One of the most criminally underrated records of the 90s, this one got a repress last year through Love As Fiction records and made me fall in love with it all over again. Check out Drugs or if you want to go deeper, You're Not The Only One Who Feels This Way off their second album. The best thing about having the history of music in your pocket is that you can discover whatever you like from any decade and I'm proud to be repping this one both for Ammonia and all the other 90s and 00s Aussie bands that are sitting there waiting for a new generation to discover.”

Emily Wilson - SA State Writer

Wearing: Wake In Fright

“Here I am wearing my Wake in Fright shirt. They're a lovely art-folk band, and this shirt is from their You Deserve single tour. The main hook of that song is the lyric, "You deserve whatever love you can give." And I love to repeat that line to myself as a little mantra whenever I need to be reminded - it's kind of the perfect sentiment of Ausmusic T-Shirt Day!”

Twistie Chaney - Partnerships Manager

Wearing: Rowena Wise

“Today I’m stoked to be repping the absolutely mesmerising Rowena Wise who I finally got to see live a couple weeks back supporting another massive favourite of mine, Folk Bitch Trio. I don’t think I breathed for her entire set - just Rowena and her guitar and I was frozen with goosebumps the whole time. So incredibly talented! Also, mad congrats to have just been shortlisted for this year’s Australian Music Prize! Huge things ahead!”
