Stranger In My Land is one of those increasingly rare albums that serves as a historic cultural document wrapped up in the trappings of storytelling and song.

Six full length releases and we’re left wanting more? Bring on number seven.

Don’t think this is a ‘club’ Boards Of Canada though – the problem, if there is one, is that the album is actually too obviously a Boards Of Canada album.

Hanging around with random people in a pub is difficult enough when you’re drunk and a nobody, let alone sober and a buzz-band. Good stuff.

The cheek and breeze of their earlier material, like 2011’s Roller Disco and 2010’s Hey, are sorely missing, only to have been replaced by an addiction to a samey-samey disco-inspired chord progression, a shtick that just gets plain boring by the end.
