The album title says it all.

Naysayer & Gilsun have just released volume 5 of their NGTV series which is as dark as the Melbourne winter.

Californian sisters Haim have finished recording their debut album and released a new track called 'The Wire'.

The album has an air of positivity, a radio-friendly sound and hooks solid enough to suck you in. Finn is a melodic genius; he’s also the kind of guy you just can’t help but be inspired by.

Not to say that Sound Awake wasn’t a good album, but it definitely didn’t capture the purpose that made Themata so loved. Asymmetry is different.

Should CSS’s next release be an obituaristic ‘Best Of’, nothing from Planta deserves inclusion. One must ask when they’ll become tired of being unremarkable.

Their obvious love of meshing sounds and easy coolness turns this into a grand adventure of sound and, at the best moments, light and shade.

Fans of the trio’s previous efforts will dig it, certainly, but The World’s End does indicate that it’s time for them to try their hand at something new.

Rash and Faxon – aided by a terrific cast that includes Toni Collette, Allison Janney and the filmmakers themselves – don’t skimp on the sharp-tongued humour, making The Way Way Back both enjoyable and emotionally engaging.

Frances Ha is still mostly upbeat and optimistic, thanks largely to Gerwig’s irresistible presence.

Festival tip: buy a plastic poncho, cart it around with you every day and it will never rain when you are in transit outdoors.
