Tonight’s combination of Jonesez/The McQueens/Darts is punchy but, with the pews so poorly populated, the sparse crowd is left looking around, stunned that the joint is so empty. It’s a residency! Go support them next week.

Dirt Farmer appear to be riding a steady ascent, carrying with them a sound that is infectious, engaging and long-lasting.

As she climbs down from the stage the gap finally disappears, the threshold between audience and performer having been decisively crossed.

And by the time crowd favourite, Halcyon, closed out the set, it was clear there were some new kings of the local indie rock scene.

Tonight marks the second coming of this great local mob’s already fascinating career; people of Brisbane, prepare to be made proud.

The boys have strayed out of the garage – though not too far – and onto the main stage making for an exciting new sound and a live show bursting with energy.

The night was proof once more that you just can’t go wrong with The Stabs and The Holy Soul on the same bill.

With each act hailing from Brisbane, tonight’s performances further demonstrate just why we’re a city to watch out for in the music stakes – brilliance from every band.

Overall, the evening was a very good demonstration of how it’s the small gigs that truly test the grace and integrity of an artist.

The final track of the night is dedicated to (presumably) his girlfriend, which is a great representation of his character, and a reminder as to why we’re all here tonight – love.
