Metallic hardcore may have been given a bad name by second-rate bands relying on second-rate breakdowns but Ringworm proved that the bastard lovechild of Slayer and Negative Approach remains a potent mix.

Performing through their charmingly-crafted Atlas album, taking you from the rim of the Pacific to the edge of Pluto, Rufus proved the perfect balance between adventure and mystery, and perpetuated the magic of the unknown.

Nowadays with encores pretty much a given in any set, it was odd to see a gig where nobody called for one – a true indication of the performance.
