Triple J's Game Of Sardines Ends With Surprise Ball Park Music Gig

Ball Park Music performed at a surprise location this morning, offering an intimate gig for listeners who followed the clues for Abby & Tyrone's game of Sardines.

This week on triple j Breakfast, Abby & Tyrone have hosted the largest game of Sardines to be held in Australia.

Sardines is a game that’s often referred to as the opposite of hide and seek. In the case of triple j’s game, only Abby and Tyrone had to hide while listeners found them and then hid with them. Of course, with so many people curious about what the pair had in store, the hiding place would have become more cramped – like sardines in a tin.

The hiding place, after a series of clues shared on social media, ended up being the Miami Beach Surf Life Saving Club in Miami, Queensland. As a treat, fans who found Abby & Tyrone were treated to a special, intimate concert performed by one of the country’s most loved acts: Ball Park Music.

After listeners followed the clues shared throughout the day yesterday (27 July), they found Abby & Tyrone, who hosted a gig by Ball Park Music at 8:30 this morning.

This month, Abby & Tyrone moved from their Drive slot on triple j to Breakfast, with Luka Muller and new presenting partner Jordan Barr taking over Drive.

“Brb letting my 14-year-old self know her dreams have come true,” Abby said in April, when it was announced that she and Tyrone had moved to Breakfast. “She's currently too busy calling into triple j to try and win San Cisco's bongos from their Like A Version (true story!), but it's safe to say she'll be stoked.”

Tyrone added, “Girl... imma need a louder alarm.”

In addition to hosting Australia’s biggest game of Sardines, triple j recently announced the date, location and line-up for this year’s One Night Stand.

In September, the annual regional festival, One Night Stand, will head to Griffith, New South Wales. The line-up includes in-demand producer Ninajirachi and euphoric rockers DMA’S, and they’re joined by the genre-defying Genesis Owusu, alt-pop star MAY-A, and rockers Beddy Rays, plus a triple j Unearthed competition winner, to be confirmed closer to the event.
