T-Boz and Chilli are clearly emotional and humbled by the response from their Aussie fans on their first tour Down Under. Can we just go back to the ‘90s already?
Sydney's anticipation for another dose of TLC is happily distracted by the sounds of DJ Def Rok, who spins out a stack of urban music favourites from the '90s and 2000s, easily keeping the crowd on their feet. The Voice alum Prinnie Stevens also appears, belting out a couple of her own songs and covers for an impressive but swift set.
A handful of dancers frantically move out onto stage to wild cheers from the crowd, with TLC not too far behind them. Tionne 'T-Boz' Watkins and Rozonda 'Chilli' Thomas are dressed in funkdafied turquoise overalls, looking as fly as they did in the '90s. The ladies prove they can still kick it with the young ones – especially Chilli, whose dancing is as smooth as ever. They rattle off the hits from their first album Ooooooohhh… On The TLC Tip including Ain't Too Proud To Beg, What About Your Friends, Baby-Baby-Baby, before moving on to CrazySexyCool. Diggin' On You and Red Light Special sees Sydney get sexy, letting the ladies show off their silky voices, which have been slightly drowned out for parts of the night due to the loud backing track. The crowd sing-along is in full effect for the always empowering Unpretty and mega-hit No Scrubs, before what is undoubtedly TLC's biggest song of their 20-odd-year career – Waterfalls. The ladies and their hype-man tease us a little before belting out the anthem, which they mention is the late Lisa 'Left-Eye' Lopes' favourite song. Her presence has been felt throughout the night, with most of her rapid-fire raps played accordingly. Finishing off with Meant To Be, a new track from 2013, T-Boz and Chilli are clearly emotional and humbled by the response from their Aussie fans on their first tour Down Under. Can we just go back to the '90s already?
