"San Cisco has to be one of the most impressive live bands on the Australian tour circuit at the moment."

More San Cisco More San Cisco

It is not often that you attend a gig and it seems like the whole crowd is singing along to every word of just about every song, including from an album released just two weeks before. Such was the case for the opening night of San Cisco's current tour, held on a Thursday night in suburban Adelaide.

Support act Thelma Plum surely won over many new fans with her soulful voice and enchanting songs full of love and regret.

Opening with two new songs, Did You Get What You Came For and current single SloMo, both off their new LP The Water, San Cisco whipped the all ages crowd into a frenzy that didn't seem to dissipate throughout the 17-song performance.

While new songs featured heavily (singer Jordi Davieson encouraged the crowd to sing loudest for the ones we liked, joking "we have no idea which are the good ones"), all the fan favourites were present, including the sublime Beach (drummer Scarlett Stevens shining on backing vocals) and Fred Astaire.

Stevens once again proved herself to be one of the best drummers in the business - adept at vocals, drums and verbal sound effects on Magic. "You guys are the first people to hear these songs, apart from our parents," she informed us jovially.

With the opening set leaving us wanting just a little bit more, Davieson returned solo for the first part of a three-song encore, acoustic guitar in hand, to deliver a stunning rendition of new song Waiting For The Weekend, which again had everyone crooning along.

San Cisco have to be one of the most impressive live bands on the Australian tour circuit at the moment. They have many fine songs under their belts and have lost none of their youthful vigour. The Fremantle four-piece have always been exciting to watch live and this night was no exception.
