Eschewing generation shifts and elegiac hazes, Moon Tides ebbs and flows, a quietly resonant listen.
Listening to Moon Tides, the debut release from Portland-based duo Pure Bathing Culture, it's impossible to remain immune to their soothing, shimmering soundscapes. Having flexed their muscle serving as the backing band for Vetiver, they prove adept at a languorous lilt, sliding from hedonistic folk pop with pagan leanings (Pendulum, Temples Of The Moon) to '80s bedroom whispers (Twins) with a rigid aesthetic of Daniel Hindman's crystalline guitar and Sarah Versprille's floating vocals. Eschewing generation shifts and elegiac hazes, Moon Tides ebbs and flows, a quietly resonant listen.
