Album Review: Oh/Villain - Pilot

StarStarStarStarHalf Star

"Oh/Villain encapsulate the traditional 'hardcore' themes of love, loss, and feeling out of place with such raw emotion and grit."

The days of hilariously shitty debut releases from hardcore bands are well and truly over now that Sydney's Oh/Villain have raised the bar with Pilot.

Their extremely polished take on traditional hardcore - resembling a Hands Like Houses/Northlane lovechild - is just what the scene needs right now. From the deep and dirty guitar riffs of Preacher, to Julian Latouche's hauntingly powerful voice and heartbreaking lyrics in Crows Feet "And I'm sick of feeling hate / And I miss your company", Oh/Villain encapsulate the traditional 'hardcore' themes of love, loss, and feeling out of place with such raw emotion and grit making them a sure-fire force to be reckoned with.
