Alongside fairy-like acoustic segments, this Norwegian outfit deliver another example of ‘futuristic’ electro-pop, which unsurprisingly sounds ultra-retro. Shimmering and bubbling with positivity, L’été (translation: summer) feels simultaneously childish and druggy. For instance, opener Mateo is well-fitted for a friendly/trippy cartoon jingle. Gentle Latin-infused beats transform into a colourful wash of kitschy keys, high, longing vocals, bird noises and a wiggly bassline. Later, Turn To Sand cranks up the crunching synth tones, engulfing a sugary melody in bright cheesiness, while Falling In Love showers us in spacey, tropical vibes.
