"The progressive soul/pop release is a mixed bag of tempos and dynamics carried out with fantastic instrumental techniques."

The tumble rumble of sophisticated songwriting is all over the Layzabb  EP.

The progressive soul/pop release is a mixed bag of tempos and dynamics carried out with fantastic instrumental techniques and a level of savvy on the music production that’s much higher than your typical first release from a band.

The first recorded release from Lazer Baby showcases the fast-paced, high-energy sound the electronic pop/soul band from Tasmania have created in one short year. Lead singer Jamie Taylor’s strong vocal tone and great range easily compares to other more established Australian artists like Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi) and Caiti Baker (Sietta). Combine great vocals with a bass player skilled in progressive funk lines, a dynamic approach to song structures and technically brilliant drumming and you get a great neo-soul project.

The four-song EP presents some of their live set highlights and embodies all their musical talent and energy. The standout track, Mok(si), demonstrates the progressive quality of the band as they pick up and play with their influences only to then smoothly discard them and go onto the next one multiple times within a single track.
