New Music: Porsches - Horses
Summer-vibes abound on Horses, a teaser from fresh Australian project Porsches.. Summer (noun) – The time of year where everyone in Australia heads to the beach equipped with their finest beers and smoothest tunes. Picking the ultimate summer jam can be a hard one, with piles beyond piles of new releases hitting the airwaves every week. However, thanks to a new Australian electronic duo going by the name of Porsches, we may have an absolute ripper of a contender. Released as a ‘teaser’ of things to come, Horses is the ultimate song of the summer. A killer combination of bouncy synth, delicate vocals, and a smooth electronic beat is all that is needed by Porsches to captivate us with this tune. It is flame-emoji deserving in every way and definitely getting us keen for their debut single (plus live sets) this coming February. Having already debuted on BBC Radio One last week, Horses is available for the cheap price of free via their Soundcloud, however if you rate it so much, you can al

New Music: Sam Smith – Leave Your Lover (Motez Remix)
Motez puts his midas touch on Sam Smith’s latest single Leave Your Lover.. After thrashing out an huuuge set at Pilerats very own Wonderland Festival at the end of 2014 Motez has now started 2015 with a remix of Sam Smith’s Leave Your Lover that carries some serious fire. And at nearly six minutes in length it’s how house should be, slow-burning, full of dark bass lines and dulcet vocals. It’s even better when you’ve got Sam Smith’s voice to mess around with. Opening up with a steady clap, slow piano keys and that candied voice it slowly melds from a emotive atmosphere into a heaving wub-filled beast. From there the leviathan that has formed bursts throughout the track but also fuses easily with the golden tweaks that Motez add alongside Sam Smith’s vocals. And while it’s only the beginning of 2015 this remix is a definite stand out already.

Chet Faker US TV Debut
Chet Faker owns The Ellen Show, and soon, all of America.. Turns out Portia de Rossi isn’t the only Australian that tastemaking comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is in love with. Our own prince of alt-pop deconstruction, Chet Faker, who recently won triple j’s Best Record of 2014 for his studio debut Built on Glass, and won multiple awards at last year’s ARIA Awards, including Best Male Artist, was recently named by Ellen DeGeneres as “one of [her] favourite new artists”, right prior to him giving a sensual rendition of Gold for The Ellen DeGeneres Show audience. “He’s an amazing singer songwriter from Australia,” Ellen preached to millions of Americans tuned in, pretty much cementing his status as a rising star in the US. Not a bad way to start the year! It was the US daytime TV debut for the Melbourne-bred songwriter and producer, who recently relocated to Brooklyn to work on US promo – he’ll head back to Australia in February to play his biggest ever Australian tour (dates

New Music: O.T. Genasis - ‘Coco’ (Dark0 remix) + New Video
Dark0 stretches out O.T. Genasis' street anthem, which also scores a racy new vid.. 2014 was a good year for hip hop newcomers making it big on the power of one hit track: joining Bobby Shmurda, Rae Sremmurd and Dej Loaf in this respect was Long Beach rapper O.T. Genasis, a protégée of Busta Rhymes, who basically rose to prominence overnight with his street anthem CoCo, an over-the-top tribute to dealing cocaine.  There’s been two awesome pieces of news on the CoCo front this week: an incredible remake of the video clip with a heap of rap celebrity cameos, and a remix from one of our favourite new grime producers Dark0.  While the first CoCo video took place primarily in a kitchen, and wasn’t even in high definition, CoCo’s upgraded things considerably: the re-make is set in a mansion and in the streets of South Beach, and there’s yachts and Lamborghinis! Also lots of women in racy bikinis, that are, erm, well-endowed in the backend. Most amazingly, DJ Khaled and Timbaland are in the c

Interview: Little Dragon
We chat with Little Dragon ahead of their time in Australia with the Laneway festival.. Little Dragon's fourth album Nabuma Rubberband was a fiery piece of electronica mashed with the haunting vocals of Yukimi Nagano. 2014 has been an exciting year for Little Dragon as they have toured all over the world but have sadly only played two shows in Australia. Following up from their tour of Europe and America Liam Apter chatted with bassist Erik Bodin while he was in his hometown of Gothenberg, Sweden. Talking about their choice to refuse collaborations Erik revealed that they were hesitant to work with people they didn't know as it wouldn't be an honest experience, and how a documentary on a man who ran a company that allowed fake relatives to be hired for events inspired their song Underbart. Little Dragon will be returning to Australia for a full sweep of the country as part of Laneway 2015, tickets and the full lineup can be found HERE.  Hey Erik, how are you? I'm good, how are you? I'
