Artists and cartoonists from across the world respond to the Charlie Hebdo attacks..

Artists and designers are not usually on the frontline of global political affairs, but all that changed yesterday when gunmen opened fire on the Paris offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, killing twelve of the magazine's journalists and cartoonists. The publication has been a terrorist target for some while now, due to its no-holds-barred mocking of Islamic terrorists.
Today, artists and cartoonists from major newspapers around the world, chanelled their grief and outrage at this blow to freedom of press, making sense of the tragedy in the only way they knew how: creativity. Many took to social media to share their output. Judging from the results below, it seems the pen is mightier than the AK-47. Pilerats' thoughts are with the colleagues, friends and family of those murdered.
