Brisbane indie rockers Bugs have launched a fundraising campaign in support of their bassist, Jordan Brunoli, who recently received a devastating cancer diagnosis.
They’ve launched a GoFundMe in support of their best mate. With a target of $100,000, over $46,500 has already been raised since the fundraising campaign began just a few days ago.
On Sunday (29 June), Bugs took to social media and revealed that Brunoli had been diagnosed with “incurable stage four colorectal cancer.” Brunoli is just 29 years old.
The band noted that the cancer had aggressively spread to Brunoli’s liver and lymph nodes, which means that he’ll be unable to work for the “foreseeable future” as he receives treatment.
Brunoli was admitted to the hospital two weeks ago and underwent “major” surgery that removed tumours from his bowel and lymph nodes. He’s currently back at home, but future surgeries are possibly on the horizon. Brunoli will begin chemotherapy next week.
Bugs wrote, “Considering the ongoing costs that specialist appointments, medical treatments, medicines and quality of life assistance have the potential to amount to - we are asking for financial help to support him and his partner, through this period.”

They added that the diagnosis arrived “completely out of the blue” after Brunoli had been “repeatedly” sent away from emergency departments and a GP after showing symptoms “months ago.”
“After months of constant pain, Jordan was finally sent for a scan and diagnosed, leaving him and his family in a state of shock,” the band continued.
“Jordan has spent over a decade selflessly giving his energy to our band Bugs, and through that effort has made a profoundly positive impact on the lives of many. He has always done this from a place of generosity and love; his primary motivation being connecting with people via music and performing.
“He is an incredible son, loving partner and lifelong friend to many. He has always been a dedicated and hardworking civil leading hand at Ventia, taking pride in his role and the people he worked with every day.
“If we had a dollar for all the smiles he has put on our fans faces over the years, then we’d be well past our target already! We’re hopeful all the people who have supported our music over the years can dig deep and offer us a hand. Any amount of assistance is greatly appreciated.”
Bugs will keep fans updated regarding the progress of their fundraising campaign. To contribute financially or share the fundraiser, head to the GoFundMe here.
