Celine Dion ProfileThe Sphere in Las Vegas seemed to be the place to be this week, with video footage surfacing of Céline Dion playing the air bass and totally rocking out to Metallica’s show.
This week, reportedly on Thursday (5 November), a fan spotted and filmed Céline Dion standing up and having the time of her life during a show on Metallica’s current Life Burns Faster residency series. She played air bass guitar during lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo’s “doodle” portion of the concert.
Consequence of Sound reports that Dion shared a suite with members of Guns N’ Roses and No Doubt during the concert. Check out footage of Dion rocking out to Metallica below.
In September, Céline Dion returned to the stage for her first concert in six years and the first since being diagnosed with stiff person syndrome in 2022.
Stiff person syndrome, a rare, incurable neurological disorder, has resulted in Dion suffering muscle spasms so severe that she’s been left with broken ribs. In her 2024 documentary, I Am: Céline Dion, the singer showed how much the condition has affected her life, including constricting her incredible voice.
But all of that seemed to disappear when Dion returned to the stage, as she absolutely nailed performances of difficult songs like The Power of Love – with the second verse performed in its entirety for the first time since 1994, per setlist.fm – My Heart Will Go On, The Prayer, It’s All Coming Back to Me Now, and All By Myself.
Just days later, she appeared at the tribute concert, The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend, via satellite.
Last November, Metallica toured Australia for the first time since headlining Soundwave Festival in 2013. For the long-awaited shows, the American metal icons were joined by special guests Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies.
Reviewing Metallica’s recent Optus Stadium show, The Music’s Sam Mead highlighted the “lusciously expressive” visuals, “effortless” musicianship and banter, and praised the night’s support acts.
