"My clients really were uncomfortable about pursuing this action against Juice WRLD’s grieving mother."

Yellowcard’s copyright infringement lawsuit against late rapper Juice WRLD has reportedly been dropped.

Last September it was reported that members of the now-defunct US pop punk outfit were suing the Chicago musician, alleging the hip hop artist "copied elements" from their 2006 song, Holly Wood Died, for his 2018 track, Lucid Dreams.

As Pitchfork reports, Yellowcard have now dismissed the lawsuit, with the band’s attorney stating that, following Juice WRLD’s passing in December, they “were uncomfortable about pursuing this action against Juice WRLD’s grieving mother as the representative of his Estate”.

“As they said previously, they also are incredibly sympathetic about his death, and were torn initially about pursuing this in light of his death,” Yellowcard’s attorney, Richard S. Busch, said.

“As a result of all that has happened, they simply need additional time to decide what they want to do.”

The case was dismissed without prejudice, meaning it can be refiled at a later date.
